About Me

The Blair & Grace blog is about the everyday adventures of my latest adoptee Grace Margaret, my first puppy, and "her" horse, Blair! Her brothers and sister (also rescue dogs) are Grover, Bremerton, and Kensie. Blair is a rescue of sorts as well because he is a retired racehorse. Follow Gracie and Blair  at the barn and as we travel about exploring where we live and beyond. See where we go, the places we eat, the products we try, and the people we meet. 

My love of animals came from where I grew up in a rural area surrounded by dairy farms in southeastern Wisconsin. My grandparents had some beef cows and acreage with animals including horses at times.  Mom no longer had horses of her own at this time, and I was lucky we had neighbors with horses who would take me for ride. I had caught the horse bug.  I started riding lessons in middle school and several years later my parents surprised me with my own horse, a gorgeous full blanket Appaloosa. She was a rescue our neighbor bought and brought back to health. At about the same time, my parents’ first pair of dogs died, and we got new pups from the Humane Society. My love and desire to help pets in need of fur-ever homes, whether hooved or pawed, began.
